3 extinct to die out, not exist any more. Ex. Mastadons became extinct 10, 000 years ago.

4 artifact Objects used by people long ago.

5 history  The written story of the past.

6 Pre-history The time before written records.

7 band  Small group to which some Native Americans belonged.

8 flint  A kind of hard rock used for making tools and points for arrows and spears.

9 atlatl  A wooden stick used in pre-historic to throw a spear.

10 archeologist  A scientist who studies the way people lived in the past, including prehistoric.

11 Beringia  A land bridge believed to have connected Asia with North America for about 2,000 years during the Ice Age.

13 culture  The way of life shared by a group of people, including language, beliefs, music, foods, and holidays.

14 religion  The way people worship the God or gods they believe in.

16 shaman  A religious leader who is believed to heal the sick, tell the future, and control events.

17 Great Serpent Mound  A Native American built Hill in southern Ohio shaped like a giant, curling snake.

18 Fort Ancient  Mounds built by Hopewell people near present day Lebanon.

21 lick  A natural salt deposit.

22 longhouse  A long wooden building in a Native American village that might house as many as 60 families.

23 wigwam  A rounded Native American hut in which just one family lived.

24 teepee  A temporary cone shaped dwelling made with poles and grass mats used by Native Americans.

25 council  A group of people who meet to talk and make decisions.
