1 Partner A SOLVES the first problem.
Partner B WATCHES & LISTENS, COACHES & PRAISES. Partner B SOLVES the next problem. Partner A WATCHES & LISTENS, COACHES & PRAISES. Repeat --- when assignment is complete --- pair gives SIGNAL.

2 Teacher assigns topic or question.
In PAIRS, students share for SET TIME period. Partner A SHARES while Partner B LISTENS. Switch roles.

3 STAND up, HAND up, PAIR up. Partner A QUIZZES. Partner B ANSWERS. Partner A PRAISES or TUTORS. Switch roles. Partners TRADE cards. Repeat.

4 Teacher asks ? to which the answer is a number.
Students quickly form groups based on the answer. If unsure, students land in the “LOST in FOUND.” Needs editing

5 SENDER arranges game pieces on game board while RECEIVER waits quietly.
SENDER gives the receiver instructions to match the sender’s arrangement on the game board. When finished, partners compare boards side by side to check. RECEIVER praises SENDER. Switch roles.

6 Students #1 from each pair forms ONE large circle facing inside.
Students #2 find and face their partners forming an inside circle. Inside circle asks ? --- outside answers. Switch roles --- then switch ? Cards. Inside circle rotates clockwise to a new partner. Repeat roles.

7 In TEAMS, each student WRITES 3 statements: two true and one false.
Students take turns sharing their statements. Teammates try to identify the FICTITIOUS statement.

8 Students MIX, keeping hands up until they find a partner.
In PAIRS, Partner A asks ? --- Partner B responds --- Partner A records --- Partner B checks & initials. Switch roles & do same for Partner B’s ?. MIX again. When assignment is complete students SITDOWN & discuss results.

9 Student #1 HOLDS cards and says: “Pick a card, any card.”
Student #2 PICKS a card, READS it out loud, gives 5 SECONDS THINK TIME. Student #3 RESPONDS Student #4 LISTENS to the answer, PRAISES if correct --- COACHES if incorrect. Switch roles.

10 PAIRS generate multiple responses to a question.
COMPARE responses with ANOTHER PAIR. BOTH PAIRS team up to create additional solutions.

11 On EACH TEAM, one teammate “STRAYS” from his or her team to a new team to share information.

12 Students NUMBER OFF. Teacher gives a problem & THINK TIME. Students PRIVATELY write answers. Students LIFT from chair & put HEADS TOGETHER. Students SIT down when everyone knows the answer. Teacher calls a NUMBER. Student with that # answers using: CHORAL RESPONSE, BOARD ANSWER, or FINGER RESPONSE. Teammates CELEBRATE!

13 Students MIX quietly around room.
Teacher calls “PAIR.” Students PAIR with the person closest to them and do a HIGH 5. (Students who haven’t found a partner, KEEP THEIR HANDS UP--- until a partner is found or a 3 member team is made.) Teacher asks ? and gives THINK TIME. Students share with partner using: TIMED PAIR SHARE or RALLY ROBIN / COACH.

14 Teacher poses a problem to which there are multiple possible responses or answers.
In PAIRS, students take turns stating responses or solutions.

15 Teacher poses a task to which there are multiple possible responses.
In PAIRS, students take turns WRITING one answer or making a contribution.

16 Teacher assigns topic or question with multiple possible answers.
In TEAMS, students respond ORALLY, each taking turns and having the same amount of response time.

17 Teacher provides a question to which there are multiple possible answers.
In TEAMS, students take turns WRITING one contribution to the document or project.

18 A “Showdown Captain” is chosen.
CAPTAIN draws top card and reads ORALLY. Working SOLO, all students write response. Teammates signal when ready –BOARDS DOWN. Showdown CAPTAIN calls “SHOWDOWN.” In ROUND ROBIN, each shows & states response. If CORRECT –members PRAISE, if INCORRECT members COACH. Switch roles.

19 Teacher assigns topic or question.
All 4 students respond SIMULTANEOUSLY – writing or drawing. Teacher signals TIME UP. Students PASS PAPERS 1 person clockwise. Students add to paper by writing or drawing. Continue until TOPIC is finished or owner has original paper.

20 Students play a GAME to think about the content.
Students SPIN to determine: WHO WILL ASK WHO WILL ANSWER WHO WILL PARAPHRASE WHO WILL PRAISE Needs editing

21 Teacher says, “STAND UP, HAND UP, and PAIR UP!”
Students stand up and keep one hand in the air until they find the CLOSEST/NEWEST partner, who’s not a teammate. Teacher asks a ? or gives an assignment. Teacher provides THINK TIME. Pair using: RALLY ROBIN or TIMED PAIR SHARE.

22 During a DISCUSSION, teammates place their CHIPS in the center EACH TIME they TALK.
Students CANNOT TALK again until all teammates have placed a chip. When ALL chips have been used --- the discussion is over.

23 Student stand near teammates.
Teacher calls on a standing student. Student states one idea from team list. Add to team list or check off ideas that were stated by another team. Student passes team list to new teammate. Students sit when all items have been checked off.

24 Teacher announces a topic and states how long each student will have to share. (20-30 seconds)
THINK TIME. In PAIRS, Partner A SHARES – Partner B LISTENS. Partner B THANKS Partner A for sharing (use GAMBITS). Switch roles.

25 Carousel Feedback Teams STAND in front of their project.
Teams ROTATE clockwise to the next project. Teams DISCUSS reactions to project. Student #1 records POSITIVE comment. Teacher calls TIME. Teams rotate --- Student #2 records. Continue until teams reach their projects & reviews the feedback.

26 Mix-N-Match Students MIX, repeatedly QUIZZING new partners and TRADING CARDS. Afterwards, they QUICKLY find a PARTNER with the card that MATCHES theirs. Students SIGNAL when they have found their MATCH.

27 Pairs Check One partner SOLVES a problem while the other COACHES.
Switch roles. Pairs CHECK their answers with another pair. BOTH PAIRS CELEBRATE when correct and finished.
